Promote Safe Sets
The Keys to a Safer Backstage: Train, Inspect, Maintain

Train – Inspect – Maintain
The Key to a Safer Backstage
What do you need to promote Safe Sets in your theatre? Here’s the key:
• A formal training program for all of your rigging operators.
• Regular, thorough inspections of your rigging system.
• Develop a maintenance program for your rigging.

Rigging equipment is an essential part of most stages, from middle schools to major performing arts centers. In far too many theatres there is not a formal training program. Theatrical rigging is one of the rare instances where heavy loads are moved over people – there is a lot of responsibility associated with this, so lets work to promote safe sets.
